We will not take advantage of grief
The Estate Path is a place to organize an estate and keep the people involved informed. You are often here because someone has died, or because you were asked to carry out their plan. We respect that. We do not treat this season as a chance to pressure you, mine your attention, or turn your loss into a marketing opportunity.
The details you enter are for the work you are doing. They are not a resource for us to exploit.
What you give us
When you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a password kept only as a secure hash. In an estate workspace you may also enter information about the estate and about other people: names, roles, phone numbers, mailing addresses, email addresses, and notes you choose to keep.
A session cookie keeps you signed in. Checklist progress for an estate is stored in your browser on this device.
Only what the work needs
We require the minimum needed to create your account and run an estate workspace: your name, email address, and a password. Phone numbers, mailing addresses, notes, and details about other people can be collected, and they are not required. You provide them at your discretion, when they help the work you are doing.
That includes other personal information, and medical information. Social Security numbers, account numbers, diagnoses, medications, and similar details are never required. The Estate Path is a place to organize an estate. It is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or medical service, and it is not offered as a service covered by HIPAA. We do not ask you to send health information so we can provide care. If a detail like that belongs in the record you are keeping, you choose whether to include it.
Documents you upload
Files you add to an estate — wills, trusts, healthcare directives, statements, and anything else — are stored so the people you invite can use them. Those files may contain personal information, including medical information, even when the form that accompanies the file does not ask for it.
Know what is in a document before you upload it. Add only files you are comfortable sharing with the people you invite.
We do not sell information
We will not sell your information. We will not sell information about other people that you provide while using this site — beneficiaries, family, attorneys, accountants, or anyone else you add.
We use what you enter to run the workspace you asked for: to sign you in, show your estates, and let people you invite see what you have chosen to share.
We will not contact the people you add
We will not contact or solicit the people whose details you enter. We do not add them to a mailing list, and we do not reach out to market The Estate Path to them. If you invite someone to look at an estate, that invitation is yours to send.
Email only when you turn it on
The only email notifications you receive from this site are the ones you cause by enabling a feature that delivers email. We do not send promotional mail, newsletters, or reminders you did not turn on. When a feature sends email, it does so because you enabled it, and only for that purpose.
Cookies
The Estate Path uses essential cookies only. Targeting and performance cookies are off. You can leave them off to opt out, and that choice is saved on this browser. Essential cookies stay on, because the site cannot keep you signed in without them.
Essential cookies

Targeting cookies

Performance cookies
Cookies that measure how the site is used, such as which pages are opened and whether something failed to load, so the product can be improved. The Estate Path does not use performance cookies. Opt out to keep them off.
If this policy changes
If we change how The Estate Path treats information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
